Minutes of the September 19, 2003 meeting
PRESENT:

Barbara Monfils called the meeting to order at 2:15
p.m.
Tony Gulig moved that agenda item # 19 be amended
to include the consideration of the deletion of the proposals, Applied
Mathematics and Computer Science Broadfield and Applied Mathematics of
the Earth System and Space Sciences Broadfield.
The motion was seconded by Anne Hamilton. The motion to approve the agenda
with these additions carried.
The May 9, 2003 minutes were amended to correct
the spelling of Alvaro Taveiro’s name and to correct that the BSE in Journalism
was eliminated not the BA/BS in Journalism per request by Wilfred Tremblay.
The amended minutes were approved on a Tony Gulig/Alvaro Taveira motion.
Barbara Monfils introduced Leslie Meyer, Associate
Administrative Specialist in the Associate Vice Chancellor’s office, and
then had the members and guests introduce themselves.
Tony Gulig moved to approve the New Student Program's
proposal for the deletion of
INTRAUNV
900-010.
George Ferencz seconded
the motion, and the motion carried.
Tony Gulig moved to approve/ receive and record
the following proposals from the Communication Department:

The motion carried.
Phil Johns moved with a second by Tony Gulig to
approve the proposals from the Chemistry Department for a change in requisites
for
CHEM 370
Physical Chemistry, a change
in major for
Chemistry – Liberal Arts,
and a new submajor for Chemistry –
Professional
ACS Approved (BA/BS). Phil Johns introduced a friendly amendment to
change CHEM 494 to CHEM 484 in the submajor.
After a brief discussion, the motion carried as amended.
The proposal from the Integrated Science and Business
Program for a new prefix, SCIBUS, was approved on a Phil Johns/George Ferencz
motion.
Stuart Glosser moved to approve the proposal from
the Marketing Department to change the submajor for
Marketing (BBA).
The motion
was seconded by Alvaro Taveira and carried pending consultation with the
Registrar.
George Ferencz moved to receive and record the proposal
from the Music Department for the
requisite change for
MUSC 422/622 Assessment
of Music Learning. Motion was seconded by Wilfred Tremblay and
carried.
The proposal from the Sociology Department to receive
and record a requisite change and repeatability change for SOCIOLGY 493
Applied
Sociology was approved on a Phil Johns/Chris Henige motion.
George Ferencz moved to receive and record the special
courses approved between May 21, 2003 and September 10, 2003 as follows:

carried.
A discussion on internship credits was introduced.This
topic will be placed as an agenda item for the next UCC meeting.
