FROM:
This course teaches students professional program development techniques using the C++ language, correct business programming style and proper program design, debugging and testing techniques, and the use of objects. It also introduces students to relational modeling, design and terminology concepts as well as structured design techniques.

Coreq: 950-210. Prereq: 765-171 and an overall g.p.a. of 2.50.

TO:
This course teaches students professional software development using object-oriented program design and the Java programming language. Coverage includes correct business programming style and documentation, program debugging and testing, database and file processing, event-handling, and graphical user interfaces.

II.  Justification for action:

(i) To reflect the change in programming language used in this course from C++ to Java and

(ii) To use the new 765-172 course taught by Mathematical and Computing Sciences to provide MCS majors with an introduction to Java.
