I. Exact description of request

Categorize Conflict Resolution and Crisis Management in International Politics (820-462/662) as a general course (political focus) within the International Studies major. This is a new course that completed the curricular process during Fall 1999. It will be one of the elective courses that students may complete to fulfill the requirement for International Studies majors.

Categorize Government and Politics of China (820-472) as a Category II(B)(Regional Emphasis: East Asia and South Asia) within the International Studies major. This new course was adopted by the Letters and Sciences Curriculum Committee on Sept. 21, 2000.
 

II. Relationship to mission and strategic plan of institution, and/or College/Department goals and objectives

                    No change from previously approved "new course proposals."

III. Rationale

Besides the required courses in the major, students must take 12 credits of courses in other categories. This action is necessary to designate the categories appropriate for the courses.
