II.  Relationship to mission and strategic plan of institution, and/or College/Department goals and objectives.

Correcting and updating APR and Catalogue copy will assist in meeting all goals relating to effective advising.

III.  Rationale

1. The recent number change of Writing in Biology has made the previous course list inaccurate.

2. Credits in 630-141, 630-142, and 630-251 have been changed from a total of 13 to a total of 12.  This increases the number of elective credits available.

3. Many biology courses emphasize themes in structure and function using examples from plants, animals, protists, fungi and bacteria, rather than focusing exclusively on either plants or animals.  “Selection of credits from Botany and Zoology” is a vague, unnecessarily limiting, non-constructive requirement.

None of these changes are substantive.

IV.  Cost implications
