Detailed explanation of changes (use FROM/TO format): Deleting 260-339, Franchising
Justification for action: The Department of Marketing is continually seeking to update our curriculum. Current trends in the industry dictate the addition of two important courses—Internet Marketing and Database Marketing. Given budgetary considerations, and consistent with administrative policies, the department has targeted Franchising for deletion. This course was chosen for deletion for three reasons. First, franchising issues are covered in at least four courses: Retailing, Marketing Management, Promotional Policies and Strategies, and Internet Marketing. Second, the two new courses, Internet Marketing and Database Marketing, are more valuable to students interested in entrepreneurial education. Lastly, there has been little demand for the course, and as a consequence has not been offered recently. Assistant Dean Jan Olson, Coordinator of the Entrepreneur major agrees with these changes.
