I. Detailed explanation of changes (use FROM/TO format)
Based upon recommendations from the National Advisory Council for Career and Technical Education (formerly the American Vocational Association), the recommendation was to drop the term Vocational and add Career and Technical Education (CTE). The AVA has since changed its name from AVA to the Association of Career and Technical Educators. This action is to better reflect the multiple roles of CTE as it is no longer viewed as a terminal program at the secondary and postsecondary level.

II. Justification for action
To reflect the actions taken by the National Advisory Committee for Career and Technical Education. The name change is being incorporated by the DPI and professional publications.
