I. Detailed explanation of changes:

Description change:  The word athletic has been removed.

Title change:  The word athletic has been removed.

                           Requisite change:

Deleted all current requisites which were 448-240, 448-250, 448-255, 448-256, 448-460/660, 448-461 and 2 credits in                    coaching/coaching of courses. Replaced the requisites with department approval required. II. Justification for action:
The National Association of Sport and Physical Education uses the word coaching consistently in their national coaching standards. The title change will make the terminology used in the coaching minor consistent with the national standards.

The requisite change will allow the students that meet the minimum requirements for a coaching certificate, which is less than the complete coaching minor, to take field study with department approval. The minimum requirements to coach in Wisconsin are completion of 448-469 ASEP Coaching Principles and 448-468 ASEP Sport First Aid or having a license to teach. The field study coordinator will determine if the student is qualified to engage in coaching in the applied setting.

III. Field study in coaching provides undergraduate students with a supervised capstone experience in coaching. Students will be placed with department approved university/public/private/community teams/programs to obtain practical experience in the sport(s)/program(s) of their choice. The site selection will be consistent with the professional objectives selected by the student.
