The number change from 451 to 351 is to better reflect the level of the course. It is also made to make it more attractive to Asian studies minors who have been concerned about the course being a senior level course. The course is now included as a Social Studies option in the revised Asian Studies minor.
The title change is to reflect the status of the Asian economies as Emerging markets. This term will make the course more attractive to Business students.
