Submit the following:

    1. Exact description of request

    2. Add the unique requirement:

      CALCULUS – 3-5 CREDITS
          1. SELECT 1 COURSE: 760-243, 760-250, 760-253

    3. Relationship to mission and strategic plan of institution, and/or College/Department goals and objectives

    4. It has been the aim in recent years to make the requirements for the MCS BBA degree and the MCS BS degree as equal as possible. Most MCS majors now complete a course in calculus. Only the MCS BS majors with a minor avoid this requirement. This change in major corrects this inequity.

    5.  Rationale

    6. Calculus has been a requirement of MCS majors from the College of Business and Economics and for MCS majors from the College of Letters and Sciences taking the NO MINOR option. This change will make the calculus requirement uniform for all MCS majors.

    7. Cost implications
This change may add a few more calculus students each semester to courses taught by The Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences. Since the number of MCS majors who now do not complete a course in calculus is small, the increase is likely not to cause an increase in the number of sections of calculus offered by the department.
