Submit the following:
I. Exact description of request
Add the unique major requirement:
CALCULUS – 3-5 CREDITS
1. SELECT 1 COURSE: 760-243, 760-250, 760-253
II. Relationship to mission and strategic plan of institution, and/or College/Department goals and objectives
It is a goal of the Management
Computer Systems program to provide significant technical background for
students who
pursue a career in Information
Systems. The study of calculus improves ones problem solving skills, solidifies
a student’s
basic mathematics skills,
and provides a level of abstraction which is advantageous to all MCS majors.
III. Rationale
Calculus has been a requirement
of MCS majors from the College of Business and Economics. The purpose of
this
change is to maintain the
calculus requirement being dropped by the College of Business and Economics.
This
requirement is now being
made to uniformly apply to all MCS majors.
IV. Cost implications
Since this change is the
reinstatement of an existing requirement which is about to be dropped,
there are no additional
costs over those already
in place.
