CURRICULUM COMMITTEE
College of Letters and Sciences
Meeting of September 4, 2008

    PRESENT:  Kris Curran, Paul House, Molly Patterson, Jerre Collins,  Jon Kane, David Cartwright,  Steve Sahyun, Jolly Emrey, Elizabeth Olson, Jim Winship, Larry Neuman, Ellie Schemenauer, David Welsch, and Elizabeth Hachten, Chair.
    1. The minutes of the April 24, 2008 meeting were approved on a Cartwright/Collins motion.
    2. The 2008-2009 Curriculum Committee Guidelines were approved on a Winship/collins motion.
    3. The committee needed to elect a representative to the College Budget and Planning Committee.  Jolly Emrey was nominated on a Winship/Collins and agreed to serve again. She was elected by acclamation.
    4. Announcements:  None
    5. New Business:
      1. The Chair requested that the dates of the last three scheduled meetings in the Spring be moved FROM March 19, April 9 and April 23 TO April 2, April 16 and April 30.  Winship/Emrey moved to approve the request and the motion passed unanimously.  The revised meeting schedule may be found at  http://acadaff.uww.edu/ls/2008-2009/08-09MeetDate.htm
    6. Neuman/Cartwright moved to approve the new course ASIANST 493, "Internship in Japanese Culture."  The motion passed unanimously.
    7. Curran/Collins moved to approve the following Biological Sciences proposals:
      1. Change in the Biology Minor.
      2. Change in the Pre-professional  Program - Dentistry Emphasis.
      3. Change in the Pre-professional  Program - Dentistry Emphasis.   The motion passed unanimously.
    8. House/Collins moved to receive and record the following informational item:
      1. <>Title change for SOCIOLGY 362 FROM Population Dynamics TO Population Studies.  The motion passed unanimously.
  1. The meeting adjourned on a Sahyun/Collins motion.
