  3. Biology
    1. New Course BIOLOGY/GEOLOGY 451/651 "Natural History of Yellowstone NP and the Upper Great Plains."  (This is an introductory, multi-disciplinary, summer field course open to all.  It is held at Yellowstone Natl. Park and locations in route.  Students will learn field methods, geology, ecology and natural history.  It is suitable for biology and geology majors and anyone interested in field science or natural history.  This course has been taught 7 times since 1996 as Biology 491/691 and was cross listed in 2007 as Geology 491).
    2. Change in Biology-Ecology_Field (BSE) (We propose a change from a 34 credit major with a required minor to a broader 56 credit emphasis in field biology with no minor required. We also are reorganizing the layout of the emphasis so as to be more helpful to students).
    3. Change in Biology -Cell_Physiology (BSE) (We propose a change from a 34 credit major with a required minor to a broader 59 credit emphasis in molecular biology and physiology with no minor required.  We also are reorganizing the layout of the emphasis so as to be more helpful to students).
  4. Sociology, Anthropology, & Criminal Justice
    1. New Course CRIMIJUS 322 "Criminal Investigation of Child Abuse."  (This course is designed to familiarize students with interview techniques and modern investigative practices that will enable them to successfully investigate child physical and sexual abuse cases).
    2. Course Revision, Description change, Number change for SOCIOLGY 140 to 240 "Introductory Sociology."  (This course will introduce students to the ways in which sociologists use social theory and research methods to study groups and the processes by which people build, maintain, and change their social relationships with others and the broader society in which they live. This revision will elevate the level of material and place greater emphasis on theory and methods.  This course will replace SOCIOLGY 301 (Sociological Analysis).

    1. Change in the Human Services Foundation Minor.  (Moves SOCWORK 341 "Sexuality for Professional Growth" from the electives section to the core section and adds SOCWORK 350 "Psychopharmacology Basics for the Helping Professional to the electives section).
    2. Title Change for BIOLOGY 341 FROM "Animal Development"  TO  "Developmental Biology
    3. Requisite changes for the following Sociology courses:
      1. SOCIOLGY 426 "Minorities and the Criminal Justice System"
      2. SOCIOLGY 465/665 "Extraordinary Groups: The Sociology of Intentional  Communities"

    4. Deletion of the following Sociology Courses

    5. Deletion of the Biology-General BSE submajor  (The deletion of the general biology major and redirection of the majors into one of the other two, more specialized emphases will better prepare our students for careers as teachers).

    1. The Biology Department has requested a consultation on the following changes to the Marine Biology and Freshwater Ecology submajor.
