    1. New Submajor "Pre-Biomedical Professions."  (This emphasis is intended for students who are preparing for careers in the biomedical sciences, and is aimed in particular at those students who plan on applying to dental, medical, physical therapy or veterinary school programs, although students should consult the specific programs to which they wish to apply for additional course requirements beyond this major. Students opting for this emphasis will also be well prepared to enter the job market directly).
    2. Change in the Biology-Cell/Physiology submajor.  (Reorganization of the major which raises the total number of units from 34 to 42).
    3. Change in the Biology-Ecology/Field submajor.  (Reinstates the Cell Biology course requirement and adds a molecular techniques courese and institutes a formal "experiential" component to the emphasis that requires students to ge practical experience through internships, undergraduate research or summer field courses. Raises the total number of units from 34 to 42).
    4. Change in the Integrated Science and Business Major.  (Clarifies the phrasing of the GPA requirements and corrects a typo from the last update).
  4. Asian Studies
    1. New Course ASIANST 488 "Topics in Japanese Studies."  (UW-System has recently authorized UW-Whitewater to begin to develop a major in Japanese Studies.  As topics are offered and become routine they may leave and become stand-alone courses that are cross-listed in specific departments.  In addition to serving the needs of the Asian Studies Minor program and a newly developing Japanese Studies Minor, the course would be available to students with a range of other majors or minors who wish to add the study of Japan as part of their major or minor).
  5. Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminial Justice
    1. Change in the Sociology -Global-Comparative Emphasis  (Updates the foreign language requirement and adds and exit interview for graduating seniors).

    2. Title change and add cross-listing to the Psychology courses PSYCH 301 FROM "Physiological Psychology" TO "Introduction to Behavioral Neuroscience."  Cross-lists the course with Biology.  (The existing title refelcts an increasingly archaic terminology.  The new title more accurately reflects the field's current emphases and gives students a clearer idea of the interdisciplinary and neuroscience-based nature of the course.  The cross-listing with Biology allows majors in Biology degree programs to more easily count this coure as an elective).
    3. Title change for the Sociology course SOCIOLGY 240 FROM "Introductory Sociology" TO "Principles of Sociology."  (Sociology 240 is a revised and upgraded version of our old Sociology 140.  The name change will help avoid confusion between the two courses and between introductory courses that transfer students will have).
