Zimmerman/Schemenauer moved
to
approve the October 5, 2006minutes.
The motion passed unanimously.
Announcements:
The chair announced that there is a new Special Studies form
to be used for Travel Studies only. It is form 7T. It may
be found on the UCC or the L&S websites under Downloadable Forms.
The chair also reminded the comimittee of the proposal
deadlines for the rest of the academic year. They are as
follows:
Proposals for Fall 2007 are due November 29, 2006 for
the December 7, 2006 meeting
Proposals for Spring 2008 are due March 14, 2007 for the
March 22, 2007 meeting
Changes for the new catalog (bulletin) should be submitted
by April 18, 2007 for the April 26, 2007 meeting to insure they are
included in the new course catalog. It may be possible for
proposals submitted for the first fall meeting (usually scheduled
for the first Thursday of classes) to make the deadline for the course
catalog but it is not a certainty.
The question was asked as to whether or not any decisions
have been made regarding the repeat policy in light of the
change in the grading policy. The chair stated that to her
knowledge no decisions have been made as yet.
Salem/Kane moved to approve
the new course SOCIOLGY 255
"Sociology of Science Fiction." The course proposal was written
with the intent that it would be taught in a 3 week summer session
. The department decided to change the offering of the course to
a regular academic semester. The question was raised as to
whether or not there was enough content for a regular semester
course. Also it was felt that a more in depth Bibliography was
needed. Salem/Collins moved to
table the proposal until a regular semester course outline and a more
in depth Bibliography was submitted. The motion passed unanimously.
Thibodeaux/Davis moved to
approve the new course HISTRY

Goddesses to Witches: Women in Premodern European History."The motion passed
unanimously.
Lebens/Zimmerman moved to adjourn. The motion passed by acclamation.
