    1. Zimmerman/Schemenauer moved to approve the October 5, 2006 minutes.  The motion passed unanimously.
    2. Announcements:
      1. The chair announced that there is a new Special Studies form to be used for Travel Studies only.  It is form 7T.  It may be found on the UCC or the L&S websites under Downloadable Forms.
      2. The chair also reminded the comimittee of the proposal deadlines for the rest of the academic year.   They are as follows:
        1. Proposals for Fall 2007 are due  November 29, 2006 for the December 7, 2006 meeting
        2. Proposals for Spring 2008 are due March 14, 2007 for the March 22, 2007 meeting
        3. Changes for the new catalog (bulletin) should be submitted by April 18, 2007 for the April 26, 2007 meeting to insure they are included in the new course catalog.   It may be possible for proposals  submitted for the first fall meeting (usually scheduled for the first Thursday of classes) to make the deadline for the course catalog but it is not a certainty.
        4. The question was asked as to whether or not any decisions have been made regarding  the repeat policy in light of  the change in the grading policy.  The chair stated that to her knowledge no decisions have been made as yet.
    3. Salem/Kane moved to approve the new course SOCIOLGY 255 "Sociology of Science Fiction." The course proposal was written with the intent that it would be taught in a 3 week summer session .  The department decided to change the offering of the course to a regular academic semester.  The question was raised as to whether or not there was enough content for a regular semester course.  Also it was felt that a more in depth Bibliography was needed.  Salem/Collins moved to table the proposal until a regular semester course outline and a more in depth Bibliography was submitted.  The motion passed unanimously.
    4. Thibodeaux/Davis moved to approve the new course HISTRY 363 "From Goddesses to Witches: Women in Premodern European History."  The motion passed unanimously.
    5. Lebens/Zimmerman  moved to adjourn.  The motion passed by acclamation.

Respectfully Submitted
