CURRICULUM COMMITTEE
College of Letters and Sciences
Meeting on March 16, 2006

    PRESENT:  Ellen Davis, Hassimi Traore, Pilar Melero, Rebecca Hogan, Jon Kane, Steve Sahyun, Jolly Emrey, Meg Waraczynski, Paul Adogamhe, Jim Winship, Richard Salem, Lauren Smith, Mike Longrie, and Larry Schuetz (Chair).
    1.  The minutes for the March 2, 2006  meeting were approved as distributed.
    2. Announcements:  In answer to the question raised at the March 2nd meeting as to whether or not it is appropriate for the committee to ask for clarification of the  grade basis in a proposal, Larry stated that it is appropriate to ask for clarification of any part of a proposal.  Since the grade basis is part of the  proposed syllabus and the syllabus is required in new course proposals it, therefore, would appropriate.
    3.  Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice
      1. Salem/Hogan moved to approve the new course ANTHROPL 365 "Precolumbian Civilizations."   The motion passed unanimously.
      2. Salem/Hogan moved to approve the new course SOCIOLGY 430  " Racial & Ethnic Inequality: Beyond the Classroom."   The motion passed unanimously.
    4. Political Science
      1. Emrey/Waraczynski moved to approve the new course POLISCI 266  "Asian Americans in U.S. Politics."  The motion passed unanimously.
      2. Emrey/Waraczynski moved to approve the new course POLISCI 418  "Legal Research and Writing."  The motion passed unanimously.
    5. The meeting adjourned.
