Meeting of September 16, 2004
PRESENT: Ellen Davis (Rep Bruce Eshelman),
Philip Johns, Pilar Melero, Anthony Gulig, Marjorie Rhine, Bennette
Harris (Rep. Jonathan Kane), David Cartwright, Steve Sahyun,
Anne Hamilton, Meg Waraczynski, Paul Adogamhe, Tim Reutebuch, Richard
Salem, Lauren Smith, Tom Schweigert, Debra Heiber and Larry Schuetz (Chair).
Guests: Peter Killoran, Sociology, and Paul
Rybski, Physics.

The minutes of the April
22, 2004 meeting were approved as distributed.

Waraczynski/Smith moved to approve the 2004-2005
Committee Guidelines with the friendly amendment that the statement,
"One hard copy of the curriculum proposal with an original signature page
......." be changed to "An original signature page ....." and the
statement "To help expedite the passage of a proposal, a single copy of
a proposal should be submitted to the Dean's Office......" be changed to,
"To help expedite the passage of a proposal , a copy should be submitted
to the Dean's Office....." The motion passed unanimously.

The committee needed to elect a representative to the College Budget and
Planning Committee. Steve Sahyun agreed to serve and was elected
by acclamation.

Salem/Waraczynski moved to approve the new Sociology course, CRIMJUS
325 "Introduction to Forensic Science." After
a discussion regarding the course content in relation to the course title,
Phil Johns moved to table the proposal until a more in-depth course outline
could be submitted. The motion died for lack of a second. It
was then suggested that the course title be changed to "Introduction to
Forensics" as a friendly amendment to the original motion. The
motion with the amendmendment passed with 1 no vote.

Salem/Hamilton moved to approve the new Sociology/Anthropology course
SOCIOLGY/ANTHRPL
367, "Archaeology of Women." The motion
passed unanimously.

Hamilton/Gulig moved to accept and record the change in the number of
credits for the Public
Policy and Administration Major. The motion
passed
unanimously.
