Because the grade point average requirement for admission to professional education has changed from at least 2.5 to 2.75, the listing of 2.25 as the rerequisite grade point average for this course is misleading. Because grade point average is one element of the requirements for admission to professional education, requiring a specific grade point average for enrollment in courses that also have admission to professional education as a prerequisite is redundant. Furthermore, the grade point average required for admission is subject to change and has in fact changed twice since the requisites were last stated for this course.

This change would not affect returning students who are already licensed teachers in other subjects who are seeking an additional license in early childhood education. Returning students would complete the portion of the licensure requirements normally satisfied by CIFLD 415 by enrolling in a graduate practicum at the preschool level instead.
