The general guidelines for the promotion portfolio are:
a. the candidate’s approach to teaching and how it is consistent with the goals and mission of the department and/or the select mission and strategic plan of the University;
b. the candidate’s research/creative activity agenda, projects, and accomplishments and in what way this agenda and the projects are consistent with the goals and mission of the department and/or the select mission and strategic plan of the University; and
c. the candidate’s service activities and how they help support the fulfillment of the goals and mission of the department and/or the select mission and strategic plan of the University.
Include only accomplishments during
appropriate time period (e.g., if file for promotion to associate professor was
due the second Friday of September, 2000, and applicant was promoted, effective
7/1/01, the file for promotion to professor should include all accomplishments
from the second Friday of September, 2000, to time candidate files for
promotion to professor).
This portfolio belongs to the candidate. Materials
shall not be added to or removed from the portfolio by any party except with
the consent of the candidate. It is of course necessary that recommendations
from the department, the department chair, the dean, and the provost be added
to the portfolio during the review process.
