John Stone called the meeting to order at 2:15 p.m. Tony Truog moved, seconded by Bambi Statz, to approve the March 11, 2004, minutes. With no additions or corrections, the motion carried.
Announcements
- John Stone updated the group on the 2004 summer and fall enrollment totals.Summer graduate enrollment is up 16 FTE over last year at this time, while fall graduate enrollment is 20 FTE ahead of last year at this time.The bulk of the student enrollment is coming from the College of Business and Economics.
- The interviews for the Dean of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education have been completed and the recommendations forwarded to the Provost.No official word yet as to the final selection.
Information Only Items
Tony Truog moved to approve the Information Only items, A-C, of the agenda.Mohammad Ahmadi seconded the motion. The motion carried.Curriculum items approved included:
- Curricular Action: Course Deletion from the Department of Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health: SFTYIND 680 Industrial Hygiene Instrumentation.
- Curricular Action: Course Deletion from the Department of Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health: SFTYIND 684 Industrial Hygiene.
- Curricular Action: Course Contact Hour Change from the Department of Communication: SPEECH/JOURNLSM 799 Thesis.
New Business
Tony Truog moved to approve the creation of a new course from the Department of Occupational & Environmental Safety & Health. Mohammad Ahmadi seconded the motion. The motion was approved. Glenn Hayes moved to approve the creation of a new course from the Department of Accounting. Bambi Statz seconded the motion, which was then unanimously approved. Tony Truog next moved to approve a change in the Master of Professional Accountancy degree program.After noting some minor editorial changes, Bambi seconded the motion, which was subsequently approved. Glenn Hayes moved to approve the change in the Master of Business Administration degree program. Mohammad Ahmadi seconded the motion. Don Zahn indicated that there are not sufficient faculty resources to sustain an Accounting emphasis within the degree program. With no further discussion, the motion was approved.
- Curricular Action: Creation of New Course from the Department of Occupational & Environmental Safety & Health: SAFETY 679 Principles and Methods of Industrial Hygiene.(Form 2.)
- Curricular Action: Creation of New Course from the Department of Accounting: ACCOUNT 683 International Accounting.
- Curricular Action: Change in Major: Master of Professional Accountancy (MPA).(a)Add ACCOUNT 693 (International Accounting) as an acceptable alternative for the international requirement in the MPA degree program and (b) ENGLSH 572 (Technical and Scientific Writing) as an acceptable alternative for the skills requirement in the MPA degree program.
- Curricular Action: Change in Major: Master of Business Administration (MBA).Delete accounting as an emphasis within the MBA degree program.
With no other business to attend to, the meeting adjourned at 2:35 p.m. on a Truog/Sayhun motion.
