GRADUATE COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES


May 9 , 2002
PRESENT: Paul Adogamhe, Mohammad Ahmadi, Tom Bramorski (for Will Drago), Ni Chang, Dianne Jones, Richard Lombard, Pete Mesner, Brenda O’Beirne, Erin Schoonmaker, Bambi Statz, Scott Swanson, Sally Vogl-Bauer, Roy Weatherwax (for Robert Gruber), and Janet Wright.

Richard Lee called the meeting to order at 2:15 p.m.Pete Mesner made a motion to approve the minutes of the April 11, 2002, meeting.Bambi Statz seconded the motion.The motion carried.


Announcements

  1. John Stone provided data from the last four years regarding our graduate programs.The data included the number of students that expressed interest in graduate school, the number that applied, and the number that actually were accepted.
  2. The newly revised Graduate Studies web page will be launched later this month.John informed the Council that Will Drago’s request for a revised mission statement was not forgotten.A draft of the revised statement will be ready for the Council’s review in September.
  3. Though the budget issues still have not been resolved, program coordinators were advised to begin to review graduate assistant applications.The graduate assistantship contracts will be sent out in late May.
