Nominations for

Outstanding Research Award

University of Wisconsin - Whitewater

Program Description

Each department or equivalent academic unit is invited to nominate one candidate for the annual UW-Whitewater Award for Outstanding Research.  Departments with more than 15 FTE         faculty positions may nominate two candidates. The purpose of this award is to recognize and honor a single faculty member for making significant advances to knowledge, technique, or      creative expression in her/his professional field.

All nominees will be honored at a reception sponsored by the Chancellor and the Provost. The recipient of the award will (1) be introduced at the Spring commencement ceremony, (2) receive a certificate and a monetary award, (3) have her/his photograph displayed in the Andersen Library for a year and thereafter in her/his college's hall of fame, and (4) have her/his name added to a plaque displayed in Andersen Library.

Eligibility

To be eligible, nominees must (1) presently be in at least his/her third year at UW-Whitewater and (2) not be one of the four most recent recipients of the award.

Selection Criteria

In selecting the recipient of the award, the University Research Council will give special consideration to research produced within the past five years. Further, refereed publications and/or juried exhibits and performances will be given greater weight than other evidence of research. Research, as defined in the Faculty Personnel Rules, is "creative activity evidenced by contributions to the knowledge, works, techniques, or principles, or by demonstrations of one's mastery of the techniques or principles of one's discipline, in media appropriate to it, which are or were available to critical evaluation by one's peers within the discipline".
